ACCM review

This review of Melody Jams contains the following information:

App description

Melody Jam is an entertaining musical app suitable for young children. The aim is to put a five-member band together by mixing and matching different friendly alien characters. Each alien plays a distinct tune on a different instrument, or sings, dances, or juggles. The player can also play along on a selection of instruments, such as keyboard, percussion, and glockenspiel as well as other instruments. There are 3 different stage settings, each featuring 12 different characters and sounds to choose from.

Reviewers comments

The app's animations are high-quality and appealing, featuring endearing alien characters. Children can explore different instruments and sound effects and discover how they sound in combination. The app is programmed in such a way that whichever aliens are matched, the resulting sound is always in key. The play-along instruments are also matched in key, allowing the child to be creative and adding to the song while at the same time getting a sense of achievement. Rhythmic skills can be practised through the percussion instruments. The app can be used intuitively, is completely free of ads, in-app purchases and online connectivity and is therefore a suitable choice for a young audience.

About games and gambling

Most games contain elements of risk, chance and knowledge, that is why they are fun to play. There is growing concern about the impacts of simulated gambling games on the health and wellbeing of children. That's why we are identifying games that contain gambling elements on our site.

The State Government of South Australia's web site http://nogame.com.au/ contains information about these concerns.
