Stanford experiment shows that virtual superpowers encourage real-world empathy: A recent experiment conducted at Stanford University suggested that games could be designed to encourage empathy in real-life situations. The participants experienced a simulated rescue mission which they either completed using a helicopter or the superpower of flight. Researchers found that the participants who were given the superpower were significantly more likely to show empathy. Stanford News January 31 2013
