What’s it about?

Alvin and the Chipmunks are performing at a concert in London when one of Alvin’s antics causes Dave to end up in hospital. The Chipmunks are sent home to stay with Aunt Jackie but she also has an accident at the airport so her grandson Toby has to look after them. Dave insists that the boys go to school for the first time where they discover girls and bullies.

Meanwhile, evil record manager Ian wants to get his revenge on the Chipmunks because they made him lose all his money. He discovers a girl chipmunk group called the Chipettes and sets out to make them bigger stars than the Chipmunks.

What to look out for

There’s quite a lot of comedy violence and bullying in this movie which might upset younger kids such as:

  • Dave is accidentally knocked across the stage by a huge flying stage prop. He winds up in hospital.
  • A high school bully threatens the Chipmunks saying that he is “going to knock those guys down to size.” He later threatens them saying that ‘if you so much as look at, think about, or talk to those girls again… you’re dead.’
  • Bullies dunk Simon’s head in the toilet. They drop him in and he nearly drowns.
  • A boy picks up Simon and throws him in a rubbish bin. Simon pulls Alvin into a dumpster and the two begin fighting.

Moral of the Story

Don’t let other peoples’ opinions and actions affect who you are or who you are capable of becoming.
