Charlie Brown is a happy lad who enjoys ice-skating and playing basketball. When a new family move into the neighbourhood, Charlie is smitten by the Little Red-Haired Girl. He wants to impress her and so tries to make her take notice of him by doing activities such as performing at the winter dance, writing a novel and entering a talent show. Charlie is prone to having accidents and keeps getting stopped from doing what he wants. His good friend Snoopy, the dog, who wants to become a World War 1 pilot, helps him along the way.

The messages of the story are that friends are important in helping you overcome problems and that it’s important to be true to yourself and not try to be someone you aren’t.
