What’s it about?

The Croods are a prehistoric family who live in caves. Grug is the leader and he is determined to keep his family safe. He teaches them to be afraid of anything new, to stay close to the family, to never go out at night and always to return to the cave after a hunt. His daughter Eep though is a very curious girl who doesn’t always obey her father.

One day Eep sneaks out of the cave and meets Guy, a young man who she finds very attractive. Of course her family are very distrustful of Guy but eventually they decide they must follow Guy to the new land of ‘tomorrow’. Along the way they meet many dangers and the Croods have to learn to get over their fears in order to find peace and happiness.

What to look out for

There is some hunting and fighting in this movie such as:

  • While out hunting for food, the Croods have to compete with lots of other animals and creatures. They all start fighting and the Croods have to escape on an elephant to get away from the fierce creatures.
  • When Eep first meets Guy she kicks and hits him because she is afraid of him.
  • Grug tries to scare a monkey away but the monkey punches Grug in the face and starts attacking him.

There are also some scenes where the Croods are often in danger that would scare younger kids such as:

  • Volcanoes erupt and an earthquake shakes the ground, making rocks fall and the ground split open.
  • Grug throws his family over a gap to safety and it seems like he’ll get left behind.
  • The Grandmother is so hungry that she tries to eat one of the children.
