Two seminars in Western Australia last week to highlight society’s sexualisation of children were attended by parents, policy makers and representatives from the media and advertising agencies. Speaking at the seminars, entitled Childhood in a sexualised society, ACCM President Elizabeth Handsley warned parents that advertisers targeted children to sell products in what could be seen as a "corporate takeover of childhood". She said the development and well being of children were being put at risk.
