Tuesday 5 February is Safer Internet Day. The theme, ‘online rights and responsibilities' will be used to promote positive digital citizenship across Australian communities.
2013 is the 10th anniversary of Safer Internet Day. Coordinated by Insafe, the European network for internet safety, the event is supported in Australia by Cybersmart.
The UK Safer Internet Centre chose Safer Internet Day to launch the findings of the UK’s largest ever survey of young people’s attitudes toward online rights and responsibilities. Over 24,000 young people age 7-19 from across the UK responded to the survey, and a further 90 young people explored these findings in focus groups. The result is the development of primary and secondary school charters of online rights and responsibilities.
