Network TEN Sydney Pty Ltd’s (TEN) broadcast of a program promotion for the drama,Ripper Street, has breached the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice. The program was promoted in a broadcast on 23 July 2013, during an episode of MasterChef Australia which is classified G. The Australian Communications and Media Authority received a complaint about sex and violence within the promotion.
In addition to complying with the G classification guidelines, such a promotion must also comply with additional special restrictions applicable to all promotions broadcast during G classified programs between 7.00 pm and 8.30 pm. These classification provisions are aimed at ensuring children are not exposed to material that is unsuitable for viewing without supervision.
