The Australian Communications and Media Authority (the ACMA) is seeking public comment on proposed amendments to the Children’s Television Standards 2009 (the CTS). They claim that these amendments "seek to reduce the regulatory burden on licensees and industry by reducing reporting requirements and removing the ACMA’s role in children’s (C) and preschool (P) programs prior to broadcast" It is also claimed that "these reductions create efficiencies for licensees, producers and the ACMA, and are unlikely to detract from the policy objectives of the CTS or reduce community safeguards".
The closing date for responses is the close of business on Friday 11 July 2014.
