The latest TMNT movie is released in Australian cinemas today. The film was originally classified M with the guideline ‘Action violence’ by the Australian Classification Board but, following an appeal, a three-member panel of the Classification Review Board has unanimously determined that the film should be classified PG (Parental Guidance) with the consumer advice 'Fantasy violence'.
The reasons for this decision are published on the Classification Review Board Decisions page. In the Review Board’s opinion Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows warrants a PG classification because the violence in the film is fantasy violence that is appropriate to the context of the film.
