Call for submissions - have your say about Children's Rights in Australia May 14, 2018

Australia is currently preparing for its appearance before the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child. This Committee monitors Australia’s progress in fulfilling its obligations under:

  • the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)
  • the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography (OPSC)
  • the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict (OPAC)

The Australian Human Rights Commission, in its role as a national human rights institution (NHRI), is independently reporting to the Committee on the Rights of the Child about Australia’s implementation of the CRC, OPSC and OPAC. The National Children's Commissioner is asking Australians to express their views on how Australia is progressing or not progressing in terms of implementing the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 23 May 2018.
