This app replicates a canvas and has a selection of pens, colours, erasers, and other tools which are stored in an art tool box displayed along the bottom of the page. Tools are selected by tapping the screen, and then selecting the colour/stroke and using a finger to draw on the canvas. There is an eraser tool and undo button and once complete the user can upload the picture to their camera roll. The free version has limited features and if you click on an option that is not available a message pops up that says ‘please consider upgrading to the Pro version’ but it does not link directly to the online store, rather the user has to go back to the app store to purchase this version.
There are many learning opportunities including creative skills required for any drawing task, colour recognition, and fine motor skills to draw on the screen. This app may also set children up to understand (and be interested in) more complicated virtual drawing programs such as Adobe Illustrator.
