This review of Dory's Reef contains the following information:
This app was reviewed to level 10.
Dory’s Reef is a timer and quest coral reef building app. The objective is to build a home for various Finding Dory characters and complete mini games. The skills required are patience, critical thinking, and motor skills.
When the app is first opened, a popup appears asking for the player’s age. It warns players that this app contains in-app purchasing and the ability to watch advertisements for rewards. Once the app starts, the player is taken to the start of the app. The player is taken through a brief tutorial, and is taught how to build various types of coral on Dory’s reef. As the player completes missions, they are given two kinds of currency. Sand dollars and pearls. As the player progresses, they can play a shape matching mini game to gain additional rewards required to build various habitats for other characters. As the player progresses, they are shown full screen advertisements for in-app purchases. At one point, the player can purchase 300 pearls for $7.99 instead of $14.99. This is presented by the app as a time limited offer for new players. If the player closes this, it lingers on the right hand side of the screen until the offer expires.
The player can purchase packs of pearls within the app. 50 pearls for $2.99, 150 pearls for $7.99, 300 pearls for $14.99, 650 pearls for $30.99, 1750 pearls for $79.99, and 3750 pearls for $159.99. Pearls can be used to speed up building times, and purchase all other forms of currency. Within the app, the player can watch advertisements to receive a small quantity of pearls.
After completing some missions, the app displays a full screen advertisement to rate the app. Pushing this takes the player to the app store to rate the app.
