This review of Dr. Seuss Band contains the following information:
Easy and medium levels were played by the reviewer.
Dr. Seuss Band is a colourful musical app that teaches children to play electronic brass instruments (horns). Children have to hold down the buttons for the length of the notes, which drop down the screen. The colour of the notes matches the colour of the buttons. The easy level requires one hand while the medium level requires two hands and involves many more notes. The difficult level is locked and can be purchased in-app. The sound/effect can be changed by swiping down on different parts of the instrument (horns).
There are three songs that come with the basic app including Dr. Seuss’s ABC, The Cat in the Hat and There’s a Wocket in my Pocket. Further songs can be purchased. The app is relatively easy to use particularly at the easy level, however, it does require fine motor skills so some parental help maybe necessary for younger children.
This is quite a fun app to play and teaches children some music appreciation. Young children would easily engage with the easy level, however, the medium level is quite difficult and the reviewer had trouble keeping up with the notes! The difficult level would probably require much practice. The three songs that come with the app become quickly repetitive and purchase of more songs would probably be necessary. Refer to the in-app purchases section for more information on this.
Caution: Due to easy access to the Internet parental guidance is recommended for children under 13 years of age. The player can easily access the information screen which provides access to: the Game Centre, more apps by the same developer, and other related websites.
Easy access to the Internet via the developer’s and the Seuseville websites, to the Game Centre and to the App Store.
