Gabby's Dollhouse: Play with Cats is a sandbox style game based on the DreamWorks’ series of the same name. The familiar characters include eleven year old Gabby and her many cat friends such as Pandy Paws, Cakey Cat and Catrat, to name a few. The app allows free play and exploration in six different rooms in the dollhouse as well as an outdoor fairy garden. The rooms include the bathroom, kitchen, craft room, playroom, bedroom and music room. Each room contains five mini games of varying skills. On completion of a task, a gift box appears which slides down a ramp and opens to reveal a picture displaying the name of the room and the number of tasks completed within it.
The aim of the game is to complete all tasks but once completed the games can be replayed at whim with no prizes being awarded. The tasks include matching games, creative play with paints and paper, shape matching, line tracing, following instructions, and counting.
Gabby's Dollhouse: Play with Cats is a fun game for young children being both entertaining and educational. The app is reasonably easy to follow with a pointing finger showing the player where to press and where to go. Some of the games show an idea in a character’s head which the player needs to copy, however, not all of the games are intuitive and some parental guidance might be needed for younger children.
The app develops many and various skills such as fine motor skills, reasoning and logic skills and quick reflex actions.
