App description

The Greater Western Sydney Football Club app contains a diverse range of features, including all the latest team news, videos, player profiles, and scores streamed live to a user's phone (no refresh is required).

This app provides fans of the Greater Western Sydney Football club with a means of remaining up-to-date with all associated information, news, events and merchandise. On the home screen of the app, the next game played by Greater Western Sydney is listed (e.g. 'Greater Western Sydney vs Melbourne, SPO 01:10PM UPCOMING'). Within the News and Videos tab, the app contains news articles related to the team, their games and its players (e.g. 'Facing the Demons', 'Giants go back to school', etc). This section also contains videos (e.g. 'Matthews on ABC', 'Phil Davis Speaks'). The Fixtures and Results tab includes information on rounds completed, how much the winning team won by, the date and time the round took place, etc. The Players tab has a list of individual players containing photos and names. It is possible to read additional information about them, including their height, weight, date of birth, as well as information on gameplay (such as goals, average disposals, marks, tackles, hitouts, etc). Within the Ladder tab, there is information on all of the national AFL teams, the points and percentages they received for their individual games, and whether they lost or won their last five games.

Within the Fans MVP, fans can register/log in and select/vote for their favourite players. The Membership tab includes a range of individual membership packages which users can elect to purchase. The app contains detailed information on each of these, as well as an easy-pay option over ten months. Membership lasts 12 months. The Shop tab allows users to access the official Greater Western Sydney megastore and purchase any official AFL and SANFL merchandise. All of the profits from products sold go to the football club itself.

There is a Twitter tab that allows access to the official Greater Western Sydney Twitter page. It is possible to sign in and follow the page. The app also allows users to set up Notification alerts, for things such as Match Starts and Team Announcements. The 'More' tab includes things such as offering users the ability to give feedback related to the app, to rate the app, and to read the FAQ and Terms and Conditions.

There are no overt risks with using the app in regards to inappropriate or mature content. However, the in-app purchasing components may require some adult supervision for very younger children using the app. 

In App purchasing

Yes: Within the Membership tab, there is a range of membership packages users may elect to purchase.
The most expensive package includes:

•  'Ultimate Giant': Adult package priced at $430, Concession priced at $300, Junior priced at $129. This package has reserved seat for all 11 home matches, exclusive merchandise and other discounts.

The least expensive package includes:

• 'Giants 3 Game': Adult package priced at $75, Concession priced at $50, Junior priced at $25. This package offers entry to three home games, as well as a member's cap, member's card, flag, etc. 

Within the Shop tab, users can browse through and purchase merchandise related to the sporting team.  Users can buy things such as guernseys for both men and women (this is the sport attire the players wear), badges, footballs, mugs, iPhone covers, and memorabilia. Prices range from $2 (for badges) to $1,395 (for a Kevin Sheedy Framed Commemorative Piece).

Users may view the official football club Twitter page, and sign in with their own Twitter account in order to follow it.
