This interactive app has three different areas for the player to explore including a planting field, cottage garden and making a compost heap. Players can visit the planting field where they plant different crops such as carrots, radishes, onions and asparagus. Here they can learn the fundamental principles of gardening – giving crops sunlight and water to help them grow and harvesting them when fully grown. In the cottage, players can feed the diverse group of friendly looking characters their various crops and collect the scraps for the compost. Players can also visit the compost heap, feed their food scraps to the micro-organisms and collect some soil to fertilise their plants with. Along the way players can collect rewards in the form of extra seeds, tasty treats and badges.
While there are no instructions given for how to interact with this app, the prompts given within the game are fairly easy for children to be able to understand what to do. Players are required to change and move items around by clicking and dragging them on the screen. The graphics are sharp and clear and the warm, bright colours and friendly characters are likely to appeal to young children. Young children may require help to understand the concepts that are being explored in the app such as the process of making a compost heap. Parental guidance is recommended for children aged from 5 to 8 years due to advertising and accessibility to other apps from the same developer.
