This review of Hey Duggee: The Tinsel Badge contains the following information:
There are five characters in the game that can earn their tinsel badge by decorating a tree, with all characters played for this review.
This app is based on the children’s television show, ‘Hey Duggee’. The player chooses one of five characters (the squirrells) and helps them decorate the selected Christmas tree. The player is given instructions to swipe a finger across the screen to select a tree and decorate it with tinsel, decorations, a tree topper and Christmas lights.
This game offers young children the opportunity to express their creativity and decorate their selected tree as they wish, with clear instructions each step of the process. This game provides a good opportunity for children to learn task sequencing and play requires fine motor skills to drag and drop decorations and draw on tinsel. The game can be replayed repeatedly with numerous combinations of decorations possible.
The game concludes with the aural instruction to buy a “Hey Duggee” Christmas App bundle from the App store. This feature can only be accessed by selecting the correct number to complete a mathematical sum (16+ ? = 22). It is conceivable that a child may select the right answer by chance and without the correct restrictions enabled may be able to purchase the Hey Duggee Christmas bundle, which costs $12.99.
The app does not appear to collect any personal information and can be played without online connectivity once it is downloaded. However, as described above, it may is possible to purchase the “Hey Duggee” Christmas App bundle from the App store.
