This review of Iron Marines contains the following information:
Our Reviewer played the app over several days.
In Iron Marines, players are required to deploy small squads of soldiers into alien territories and take part in war-like missions. Missions are explained at the start of each level (e.g., “locate and destroy the enemy’s main refinery in the area”), with real time hints and instructions during game play. Fighting is achieved by clicking and dragging squads into the required position – where attack (using gunfire) occurs automatically. There is also a specialist fighter on your team that players can manoeuvre separately through the game. Successful gameplay earns players virtual currency (called “Credits”) which can be used to purchase upgrades to armour, abilities and special weapons. The aim of the game is to complete each mission before being wiped out by the aliens.
The main concerns with this app are the advertising, in-app purchasing and social media connectivity. Paid apps are often void of these features. However, not only are they present, but many players are likely to watch the 30 second ads in order to earn credits. The current reviewer was not able to get past the 4th level (after an hour of trying) due to not having sufficient fire power, armour and special weapons. Even after watching 6 ads in a row (in order to earn enough credits for a decent arsenal) this still wasn’t enough to get past level 4 and the same amount of ads were watched again. Those that are not patient to sit through the ads may revert to buying the credits outright with real money. The game also easily connects to Facebook and Twitter through the “settings” button.
There is In-App purchasing in this game, examples include:
