KneeBouncers helps kids learn their letters, numbers, shapes and colours through fun and interactive games.
The free version of KneeBouncers consists of four mini games to help kids learn their letters, numbers, shapes and colours. The first is a letter game called ‘Flowery’. Fourteen flowers appear on screen each with a different letter in their centre. The player is instructed to find a certain letter amongst the flowers, for example, “help me find the flower with the letter A”. The player must then click on the flower that corresponds with that letter.
The second game is called ‘Up in the Air’ and it is an airplane number game. The player is flying an airplane through some clouds. Each cloud has a number on it and they player must click on the cloud with the corresponding number.
The third game is called ‘Saurus’ and it is a dinosaur shape game. Two dinosaurs appear on screen, each with a different shape on their back. The player must click on the dinosaur with the correct shape.
The final game is called ‘ice-cream catch’ and it is a colour matching game. There is a monkey at the bottom of the screen holding an ice-cream cone and there are different coloured ice-cream falling from the sky. The player must slide the monkey back and forth across the screen to catch the falling ice-cream that corresponds with the correct colour.
In each game, if the player gets the match correct then they win a star. They player must get five stars before they can move on to the next item. The app also has the option of buying more mini games (see In App Purchasing for more detail).
This app is a fun way for children to learn their letters, numbers, colours and shapes. The games help children develop their recognition skills by learning to distinguish the differences and similarities between the different items. However, the verbal instructions in this app use an American accent which might be problematic when the app is teaching the player how to pronounce the words.
Yes: The app only allows in app purchasing when in ‘parent mode’. To enable parent mode, the player must hold down a button for three seconds. Once in this mode you can buy the full version of the app with all of the mini games for $12.99 or you can buy the individual mini games for $1.29.
