The look and feel of this puzzle style app would appeal to adults and children as they endeavour to solve a selection of crossword puzzles. The screen looks like a fridge and the player must fill in the blank spaces with letters (to make words) in the crossword graph. To do this they must drag the letter fridge magnets together to make whole words. There are also hints that can be utilised, of which up to two per game are free, but to access more hints the player must first watch an ad promoting another app, or purchase the hint with real money. Each level completed ticks an item off the shopping list, and players can select to play with others online. Another in-app purchase is to customise the fridge to your preferred style ($1.49-$2.99) and the ads can be removed for $2.99.
This game provides many learning opportunities including letter and word recognition, spelling, vocabulary and more. However, the hints (as mentioned above) make the game unsuitable for children under 13 years of age, and reduce the educational value of the app because paying for this kind of advantage sends a conflicting message to children about the value of learning.
At the time of review, the reviewer found no simulated gambling content. If you discover simulated gambling content in this app, please contact us with the details so we can update our review.
There are banner ads along the bottom of the screen – at the time this app was reviewed they were mostly advertising real estate, flights and educational activities. The ads can be removed for $2.99.
