This review of Little Digits contains the following information:
All five sections of the game played for an extended period.
This is an educational number recognition game that expands to include very basic arithmetic, such as adding and subtracting up to the number 5. Children use their fingertips to answer questions, for example if the question is '3 + 2 = ?', they must press 5 fingertips on the screen simultaneously. There are five sections that children can choose to play. At the most basic, there is a section where children simply place their fingertips on the screen and an animated number shows them and tells them how many 'digits' they have put down. At the most complex, children are given a total (from 1 to 5) and they must work out a combination of two numbers, on two separate hands, that equal the total. Children will ideally be able to use fine motor skills and have basic recognition of numbers 1 to 5 to be able to enjoy this game.
For children under the age of four, co-playing with a parent is recommended for added educational benefit. In addition, the hand gestures required are not immediately intuitive and will need explaining and demonstrating to children before they play. The app requires no personal information, can be played without access to internet or Wi-Fi, and has only one small icon in the home screen that advertises other apps from the same developer if you open it. For younger children, this app may help develop number recognition and the tactile association with how many fingers that number corresponds to. Children over 5 may become easily bored with this app as there is no progression in difficulty and minimal reward for correct answers.
