This review of Monster Mingle contains the following information:
Our reviewer played all elements of this game.
Monster Mingle is a simple, colourful game in which children can make their own friendly monsters. It starts with a basic shape which can be changed by adding arms, legs, mouths, beaks, ears, etc by moving small bubble filled objects onto the monster. This manoeuvre can also be used to change its shape and colour. The monster moves by the child swiping along the screen with his/her finger. The monster moves backwards and forwards across land where it meets several objects along the way. It can drop over the edge into the sea, meeting sea creatures and plants which it can interact with. The monster can also collect wings and fly into the sky. During the game the monster can talk and sing to other creatures. The player also needs to find food to feed the hungry monster.
Monster Mingle is a free playing sandbox game, which has no goals or objectives. The player is free to explore the different land, sea and sky scapes. The monster can be adapted to suit its environment by adding legs, fins and wings respectively. There are also hidden surprises along the way for the player to discover as well as musical plants and scenery.
This app is quite a simple and colourful game for young children to play and has no in-app purchases, advertising or connectivity to social media platforms. There is a parent section which can be reached by swiping with two fingers, which does connect to the developer’s website. There is no clear explanation of how to play the game, which is slightly frustrating, however it will appeal to, and is suitable for, children aged 4+ with some parental co-play and guidance.
