This review of My Molecularium contains the following information:
Our Reviewer played the game for several hours.
My Molecularium requires players to build molecules by firing atoms into the allocated sections. For example, to build Methane, the playing field will display a floating carbon atom. The player then swipes through the available atoms to find the correct one (indicated by the appearance of a ghost atom attached to the actual carbon atom). Players then must pull back on the selected atom and sling shot it into the correct position, so that it joins to the other atoms. Once the full molecule has been created, the game will then provide information about that molecule – it’s uses, how it’s formed, etc. The molecules increase in size and hence difficulty as the game progresses.
There are no content concerns with this game (no ads, no in-app purchasing, no social media connectivity). The controls in the game are quite difficult and temperamental at times. Aiming the atom is achieved by tilting the device (e.g.; to aim left, you must tilt right) and speed is adjusted by how far you pull back before firing. There’s also a quick fire feature which fires off atoms at a simple press. However, the current reviewer found that there was often a delay between press and fire – and also that the aiming system was sometimes very off centre (requiring moving the device vertically downwards at times). Together with the fact that the molecule spins very quickly at times, some children may become frustrated by the difficulty of the game. Having said this, the information about the completed molecules is great – the facts are very clear and informative (both written and spoken).
There is no In-App purchasing in this game.
