This game mimics the arcade game of the same name played in the 80’s. The player has to eat all the dots in the maze before they are eaten by a ghost. To move the Pac Man around the screen the player uses their finger to swipe the screen. At the end of each game the player is rewarded with tokens which can be used to purchase more mazes. The player can also earn extra tokens by eating the cherries which are placed randomly throughout the maze. After the first round the reviewer was offered 40% off to buy a jar full of tokens – but when this offer was refused the game moved onto another screen and the reviewer was able to choose another maze to play on. There are several free mazes in this game, however, to access additional mazes the player must either earn enough tokens through game play, or purchase additional mazes. On the main page there are frequent pop up ads for other games, and links to Facebook and Twitter to share scores. The player can also earn tokens by watching ads.
On the opening screen of the app the user is asked if they are 13 years or over, however this offers limited protection, as they only have to press the ‘accept’ button to move onto the next screen and play the game. This app is primarily for entertainment and there are no specific skills learned. However, the player does require good fine motor skills and timing to play the game, therefore, younger children may become frustrated with this game.
Players can purchase more tokens to increase the number of mazes they can play.
