This review of Pet Rescue Saga contains the following information:
Levels 1 to 25
In this puzzle-style game the player needs to match two or more blocks of the same colour to clear the level – this will “save” the pets.
Within this game, the player taps adjoining blocks of the same colour to make them disappear. This helps clear a path to “rescue” the pets. The number of moves allowed is limited. There are many levels, each level becoming more difficult, with new challenges. Helpful tools are introduced at various points of the games.
When a player fails to rescue the right number of pets within the allocated number of moves, they lose a life. When they run out of lives, they can wait a specified time for more lives, purchase more or ask a friend for more lives via Facebook.
A possible learning benefit could be that the player must plan the best combinations of blocks to clear to be able to achieve the target within the allowed number of moves.
Extra moves to complete a level can be purchased (5 moves for $0.99). Useful items (e.g. “Block Busters” or “Colour Pop Balloons”) can also be purchased. Purchasing can be by debit card, credit card and gift card (i.e. Google Play card). The process to purchase items requires moving through 3 screens before entering either card/debit card details or gift card number. Where GooglePlay credit already exists, the Google Account password is requested. Parents should be aware that if they enter the password, the player can make more than one purchase. The password remains valid for 30 minutes to continue purchasing, even after the game has been exited and resumed.
Prompts are regularly offered to connect to Facebook to “see how your friends are doing”. When the player logs into Facebook, the app receives the player’s public profile, friend list and email address. A leader board is shown of “Top Friends”, which displays the player’s first name and profile picture. When friends run out of lives, they are given the option of asking friends for more lives via Facebook.

Violence and scary material:
Very young children may be a little distressed when they fail at a level due to “too few pets rescued”, though no real threat or menace is apparent.
