App description

Pinkfong Birthday Party is a virtual reality, entertainment app that involves a series of fun activities including decorating cakes, blowing up balloons and dressing up. Children use fine motor skills and decision making skills within each activity. The game uses colour and sound to make play fun for young children.

The game uses cartoon characters, cheerful sounds and bright colours to appeal to young children. It has a birthday party and Christmas theme for children to choose from. This birthday party app includes 6 birthday party activities: blowing up balloons, blowing out candles, a piñata game, dress-up game, cake decorating, and dancing.

Pinkfong Birthday Party is a fun and colourful game for young children As previously stated, its bright colours and interface will greatly appeal to young children. The problem is the high level of in-app purchases needed to progress in the game with limited security and parental controls.

In App purchasing

• Each activity includes locked items that must be purchased to be unlocked.
• To purchase in-app features the ‘buy’ button must be held down for 3 seconds. A bar shows the loading process.
• Additional apps can also be purchased within the game. A screen appears with written numbers and requires the user to enter the corresponding digits. If entered, the user is taken to the app store.
