Princess Fairy Tale Maker offers an imaginative and creative play environment within the world of fairy tales. Players are able to choose between creating a fairy tale scene where they can also make their own video ‘stories’ (with voice recordings) or colouring pages that they can decorate and save.
From the home screen players can choose from three categories: fairy tales; colouring; or my drawings. Players have endless options to create their own personalised fairy-tale play scenarios. There are 32 backgrounds to choose from and characters such as princesses, fairies, ballerinas and animals as well as accessories that can be added. Players are able to create and narrate short videos of their screen with voice recording during play. These can then be viewed and players have the choice to delete or save the video within the game or to the photo file on their device. There is no social media connectivity so players cannot share their videos. Players can also access 32 colouring pages to decorate and save in 'my drawings'. The open nature of the app encourages players to be inventive and imaginative as they set up different scenarios for the many different characters. It also encourages the exploration and practice of language and vocabulary as players narrate their own stories – building skills in the area of digital literacy.
