This review of Proloquo2Go contains the following information:
Not applicable.
Proloquo2Go is an assistive tool, designed to assist children who have difficulty communicating. As the designer states “The symbol-supported communication app that gives a voice to people who cannot speak”. The app does this by using symbols, words and visual images children can communicate by tapping the screen.
Proloquo2Go is an assistive tool, also referred to as an augmentative communication tool. It must be acknowledged that this is a very expensive App. However, for some children who have difficulty communicating and/or those who use symbols to communicate this tool can be of assistance.
The user can create speech simply by touching symbols that are available through an extensive library. The opportunity to communicate with words, images or phrases is of assistance, as is the ability to personalize the library of images and the accent of the spoken voice.
While the App does not contain any advertising or inappropriate content it is possible to link communications with email, social media or through text message. Used well can be a tool for enhancing language and enabling communication for children with additional needs.
