The Safari Train for Toddlers app allows the player to interact with a train filled with animals such as such as a lion, giraffe, ostrich or snake, as it goes on a journey through the countryside. Players can hear the noises each animal makes as the train toots it’s horn or puts on it’s light. The free version comes with 2 carriages and an additional five carriages with animals can be purchased.
This app allows players to learn about well known African animals including what they look like and the sounds they make. By tapping on an animal, the player activates a short movement and sound from the animal. For example, the lion opens his mouth and roars or the giraffe munches on some leaves. The player is able to investigate the concept of cause and effect in a simple way. The animals are all depicted in a non-threatening manner. The graphics are sharp and clear and the warm, bright colours and simple format are targeted towards very young children. Due to accessibility of in-app purchasing for additional train carriages and animals; parental guidance is recommended for children aged 5 - 8 years.
