This review of Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Companion contains the following information:
The game was played in full over several days.
Star Wars Battlefront Companion is exactly that – the app is designed to bolster the playability of Star Wars Battlefront on PlayStation and Xbox. In “Career” players can view things such as their stats and progression (e.g., how many kills they’ve accomplished, missions achieved, how many matches they’ve played). It also gives you the opportunity to customise your play by allowing you to choose firearms and star cards (which give you extra abilities such as Jet Pack, Homing Shot and Impact Grenade). The app also gives you up to date news and notifies you when friends are currently playing the game. There’s also a separate game within this app called; “Base Command”. This is a card style game of strategy, where players must combine and use dealt cards to protect their home base from Imperial attack. This game requires a bit of strategy but most children shouldn’t have trouble learning and playing this game. To have any practical use as a companion app, players will need an EA Games account which requires a Log in and password.
This app may have been a bit of a promotional tool as it was released before the actual game on consoles. Most of the features, besides “Base Command” can also be performed through the console game itself. Therefore, having the app isn’t really necessary in order to play the console game. The only real benefits are in the “News” section and “Friends” – which automatically connects to your existing console friends and notifies you when they are online and which game they are playing. Players can also access the EA Games store from the app – which not only allows players to purchase items, but also has links to Facebook and Twitter. Hence, this game is not recommended for children under 13 years.
None within the app. However, pressing the “Store” link will take you to the EA Games store which allows purchases.
