This review of The Room 2 contains the following information:
Completed all levels.
In “The Room Two” players find themselves stuck in a small room, with various objects (often separate tables or cabinets), featuring items that either need manipulating or building in order to escape the room and move on to the next level. For example, a cabinet in the room may be hiding a piece of a model ship on the other side of the room – upon connecting the missing piece of ship, another compartment opens in the ship revealing another object that can be used elsewhere in the room. Each puzzle is found and solved in this way (chronologically) until all of the puzzles in the room have been solved.
As players progress through the game, the puzzles in each room become progressively harder. Good problem solving skills will be required to play this game – as well as fine motor skills, good spatial memory and patience.
The Room Two does not require a log in or an account and does not have any social networking. No personal information is required.
Having said this, the game has a dark and ominous tone and features subtle supernatural elements that would not be suitable for some children (e.g., a séance, tarot cards, dark creeping vines). Transitions between levels and some sound effects are particularly eerie.
Each level/room has letters and notes that can be found which indicate what the story behind the game might be. Although these messages do not affect game play, younger children may have trouble understanding the content due to the cryptic nature of the messages.
As a result, ACCM has an age recommendation of 13+ for this game.
