This review of Toca Life Farm contains the following information:
The game offers 4 interactive locations at the farm – all sections were played twice.
There are four interactive farm locations including a field, barn, house and store. Players tap and move characters and objects to care for animals, harvest crops, cook food in the farmhouse and sell/buy goods at the farm store. Players can also turn raw inputs like milk and cocoa into chocolate milk with the store transformation machine. There are 29 characters to select including disabled and able bodied, younger, older and non-human, all of which can be dressed in different costumes at one of the locations. There are opportunities to discuss the inputs and outputs of a farm including how products are grown, harvested and sold as is/ transformed into products, like cake and bread. The in-app recording feature allows the player to narrate a story and record the actions on screen. The resulting video (up to 2 min) including narration can be saved to the device camera roll.
Children can explore farm life and create their own story using a variety of characters in a range of farm activities. Parents can discuss the cycle of farm activity including planting seeds, harvesting crops, selling produce and transforming it into recognisable products that are sold in stores. Actions are achieved by manipulating characters and objects and fine motor skills and knowledge of sequencing of activities may be required in some areas, such as adding inputs into the food machine.
