Word Domino is a letter game. In the free version the player can choose from 7 categories, for example “Weather”, and is then presented with word syllables that need to be combined to form words by clicking on them. Depending on the selected level of difficulty, a round contains 8, 12 or 20 syllables. The player can also choose whether the syllables are presented as static tiles or floating bubbles. The game is available in English, French, Spanish and German.

Reviewers comments

This game can be played by anyone with basic vocabulary and reading skills in the selected language. It provides an opportunity to practise reading, spelling and categorical thinking. There is an optional speech synthesis function so that players can hear how the word is pronounced. The language option makes the app suitable to practise basic vocabulary and spelling as well as pronunciation in another language (note that app does not provide translations). The floating bubble option requires a higher level of concentration and visual focussing.

This app does not require the creation of a user account, provision of personal information or internet interactivity to play, however parental guidance and/or co-playing is recommended for young children, due to the option to play and share information online, in-app purchases and advertisements for other games. There is a direct link to log into Facebook with an existing account.
