A synopsis of the story

Rubble (voice of Lucien Duncan-Reid) has been a good pup all year and dreams of getting a laser drill from Santa for Christmas. But when Santa gets sick and cannot deliver the presents this year, Rubble is heartbroken. The rest of the PAW Patrol remind him that Christmas isn’t just about presents, it’s about being with the people you love, but Rubble still feels disappointed.

Meanwhile, Mayor Humdinger, fed up with always being on the naughty list, hatches a plan to travel to the North Pole and steal all the presents. He tricks Rubble into helping, claiming that they are going to give Santa soup to help him recover so he can still deliver the presents, including Rubble’s laser drill. When they arrive, Mayor Humdinger reveals his true intentions and takes the presents. It is up to the PAW Patrol to save Christmas and rescue the stolen presents.

Themesinfo

Children and adolescents may react adversely at different ages to themes of crime, suicide, drug and alcohol dependence, death, serious illness, family breakdown, death or separation from a parent, animal distress or cruelty to animals, children as victims, natural disasters and racism. Occasionally reviews may also signal themes that some parents may simply wish to know about.

Crime; Animal distress.

Use of violenceinfo

Research shows that children are at risk of learning that violence is an acceptable means of conflict resolution when violence is glamourised, performed by an attractive hero, successful, has few real life consequences, is set in a comic context and / or is mostly perpetrated by male characters with female victims, or by one race against another.

Repeated exposure to violent content can reinforce the message that violence is an acceptable means of conflict resolution. Repeated exposure also increases the risks that children will become desensitised to the use of violence in real life or develop an exaggerated view about the prevalence and likelihood of violence in their own world.

There is some violence in this movie, including:

  • Mayor Humdinger steals Rubble’s bulldozer, using it to smash the front door to Santa’s house. He then forcibly rips the bag of presents out of Santa’s hands.
  • Mayor Humdinger steals Santa’s sleigh.

  • Cables attached to a large Christmas tree comes loose, causing the tree to fall to the floor. Ornaments almost hit the townsfolk and the tree crashes heavily into the ground. The tree catches alight but is quickly extinguished by the PAW Patrol.
  • The PAW Patrol fly through heavy turbulence due to a thunderstorm.
  • Santa’s sleigh crashes on top of a cliff and almost falls over the edge. Multiple kittens almost fall but are saved by the PAW Patrol. A man falls in a comedic manner and is uninjured.
